The Leadership

Challenge

Leadership conversations move quickly into ‘what else can we add?’ More tools. More frameworks. More pressure.

But the leaders I work with are already operating under constant demand - fire-fighting, supporting teams, making decisions back-to-back, with very little time to think.

In reality, leadership is often happening:

  • in urgency rather than reflection

  • in isolation rather than dialogue

  • under pressure rather than clarity

leadership becomes reactive rather than intentional.

Over time, this affects:

  • decision quality

  • reduces leadership effectiveness

  • lowers performance & motivation

  • impacts team dynamics

  • increases burnout risk

When leaders are given structured time And support to Slow Down, Something powerful Shifts.

More Clarity

Making clearer, more intentional decisions with confidence. Taking action from a centred place. Questioning own assumptions.

More Calm

Taking a moment to pause rather than react under pressure. Noticing their own thinking before acting.

More Connection

Feeling less alone and isolated in their role, receiving support from peers who face similar challenges.

“It’s been a Layer of support I didn’t know I needed.”

— Ayla. Co-Founder. Merseyside Domestic Violence Services

“I’m clearer, calmer, and less impulsive with my team.”

— Esi. Team Leader. Clean Slate

Your Invitation to Pause

The Action Learning Approach.

A structured way to think better under pressure

  • The Action Learning principles, building on the work of Reg Revans:

    1. Real problems drive real learning

    2. Questions before answers

    3. Learning through action and reflection

    4. Equal voice and shared responsibility

    5. Supportive but challenging environment

We work in a small group of 3-6 peers, online via zoom or in person.

  • Within an Action Learning Set we always work on real challenges. One person agrees to be the issue holder and brings a current challenge that they are happy to discuss with the group.

  • Open Questions instead of quick fixes. This helps to reflect on our own assumptions and limiting beliefs (ladder of inference).

  • The group holds space for the leader to think deeply and to create clear action steps to take away. The ‘issue holder’ will report their progress back to the group in the next session.

    Ownership, accountability and clarity.

  • We reflect and learn as a group. Support and shared insights.

What leaders say

  • “It’s shifted how I lead — from trying to solve everything myself to creating space for better thinking across the team.”

    — Laura. Deputy Head of Programmes. Clean Slate

  • “The programme has made a real difference in my leadership journey. I’ve gained clarity, confidence, and a more grounded way of handling challenges.”

    — Teresa. SG group. Trust Leeds

  • “Aylin created a space where everyone felt included, heard, and valued. It changed how we communicate and make decisions as a team.”

    — Steph. Therapist. SG group. Trust Leeds

  • "It's given protective time to explore and consider opportunities — time to actively listen and not respond. Because as managers, you're always asked for the answer. But actually, it gives people a much greater ownership and insight if they're supported in finding their own solutions."

    — Emma. Project Manager. Pentreath Ltd

  • "Having a formal structure gives you confidence that it's actually worth doing and collaborate with each other. It is really valuable to have space held by someone just to explore things and not have to be in control and in charge."

    — Amelia. Head of Strategic Development & Operations. Elayos

  • "Sometimes we forget how powerful our brains are, or what we have stored within them. Through action learning, I had the opportunity to deep delve into those reserves — drawn out by someone else's questioning."

    — Emma. Operation Director. CN4C

Hi, I’m Aylin,

Founder of Invitation to Pause

I create and facilitate spaces for leaders to pause, think clearly, and reconnect with themselves and each other - through workshops and programmes designed for more sustainable, less reactive leadership.

Book a conversation
  • I work through structured, facilitated spaces where leaders come together in small groups to explore real challenges.

Rather than providing answers, I guide a process where leaders:

    • reflect on how they are thinking and responding

    • ask better questions

    • learn from each other’s perspectives

    • test new ways of leading in real time

My work is grounded in Action Learning, neuro-affirming and shaped by a human-centred approach.

    • Reflection before reaction

    • Impact and transformation

    • Clarity over noise

    • Shared responsibility for learning

    • Connection and Collaboration

    • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

    • Self-responsibility and psychological safety

    • Joy - Learning can be fun 🥳

  • My work draws on over 15 years of experience across leadership development, education, and facilitation in the UK and Germany.

    This includes:

    • designing and delivering leadership programmes in the social sector

    • working with schools, universities, and education foundations

    • facilitating learning in complex, high-pressure environments

    • +13 years of teaching Yoga and somatics

Alongside this, I bring a trauma-informed and somatic perspective, supporting leaders to understand their capacity and how they respond under pressure — and how to work with that more effectively.

    My Qualifications:

    • Action Learning Facilitation

    • Coaching

    • Yoga teacher

    • Mental Health First Aider

    • Social Sciences (M.A + B.A.)

    • Design Thinking

  • The world of work is changing.

We are moving away from extractive models of performance towards ways of working that are more sustainable, more human, and more connected.

This shift is often described as a move towards a more regenerative way of organising — where organisations create the conditions for people to thrive, not just deliver.

But leaders are navigating this shift while still operating inside the pressures of the old model.

That tension — between what is needed and what is possible — is where many leadership challenges emerge.

This is the space my work responds to.

  • We work in a small group of 4-6, online via zoom or in person.

Ideally, the first session will be held in person to build deeper trust.

The group journeys together for the duration of the four months.

I am bilingual and sessions can be delivered in English or German.

Who this is for

Leaders & Managers

You are capable and committed, but operating under sustained pressure with limited space to think clearly. This is a structured environment to slow down, reflect, and lead with greater clarity and calm.

HR & L&D Teams

You are looking for leadership development that goes beyond skills training — and strengthens team culture, communication and leadership to create lasting change within an organisation.

Entrepreneurs, Creatives, Freelancers

You are looking to connect with your peers who are walking the path alongside you. Whilst keeping the show running, there is little time to actually think and to make informed decisions. This is your permission slip to pause and take the space you need to re-centre and get support before you act with clarity.
